Experience Abbas Ezzat is an associate consultant at Channoil Consulting with extensive downstream refining/petrochemical business experience.
He is assigned as a distinguished professor, materials science department, Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, Alexandria University. Also, he joined Oil and Gas Skills Co., affiliated from Egyptian petroleum ministry, as a consultant for downstream industries.
Dr. Ezzat spent more than 38 years with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum in the fields of refining/petrochemical processing and management.
A selection of Dr. Ezzat’s project experience includes:
  • Advising the Egyptian petroleum sector on the optimization of asset utilization and a proposed two- staged road map scenario to develop the local refining/petrochemical industries to attain high KPI’s. Also, the development plans of industry and the feasibility of applying refining petrochemical integration approach have been conducted.
  • Assisting Trust Group, which is a local chemical/petrochemical processing organization, for the relocation of VCM and PVC plants from Germany and Italy to Sanmar Complex, Port Said, Egypt.
  • Alexandria Oil Jetty, managing tanker and terminal interfaces and supervising Loading/Unloading tankers, including the implementation of tank overfill protection and spill control programmes.
  • Project Leader for Strategic Business Review for Alexandria Petroleum co., namely the development of Lube Oil Complex and its handling and storage facilities.
  • Project management for 2 main petrochemical projects in Egypt, namely: Polyvinyl Chloride and Ethylene/Polyethylene Projects.
  • Application of rice straw and dried plants as an alternate source of fuels in some process plants.
  • A technoeconomic study on the application of renewable feed stock materials for the production of biodegradable polymers
  • CEO of Alexandria Speciality Petroleum Products Co., for the manufacture of Speciality petroleum products based on bitumen emulsions and compound waxes for different applications, including the application of the required supply chain management.
  • CEO of Industrial committee of Alexandria council, advising Alexandria and Dekhellah port terminals’ officials for the development plans of the terminals, including the evaluation of the trade flows and the potential for the adequacy of existing products storage facilities to serve the country.
