At Oil & Gas Africa 2017, exhibitor Concrete Canvas Ltd will be showcasing Concrete Canvas (CC) and its latest product development, Concrete Canvas Hydro (CCH) which was specifically developed for the petrochemical industry for utilisation in containment, erosion control, and remediation applications.

CC, also referred to as ‘Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat’ (GCCM), is a radical and most innovative way of construction says Concrete Canvas Ltd. It is a flexible concrete fabric that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable, water proof and fire resistant concrete layer.

CC is used for erosion control applications such as bund lining, ditch lining, slope protection and the lining of tertiary containment lagoons.

The roll of concrete can be laid extremely faster than traditional concrete solutions: "CC can be laid at a rate of 200sqm/hour, up to 10 times faster than conventional concrete solutions. “CC has a working time of 2 hours after hydration and can be installed in wet weather conditions, reducing programme disruption.”

The concrete is pre-mixed and requires only water and air for construction. This means the solution disintermediates the need for mixing, measuring or compacting.

The company said: “CC is a low mass, low carbon technology which uses up to 95% less material than conventional concrete for many applications. Up to 200sqm can be delivered on a single pallet; enough to replace two full mixer trucks.

“The speed and ease of installation mean CC is more cost-effective than conventional concrete, with less logistical complexity.”

At the show the company will be focusing on imparting knowledge of the importance of Concrete Canvas in the Oil and Gas industry: “Our focus will be to grow the knowledge base of Concrete Canvas in a very important business sector, especially in Africa.”

“There may be opportunities available for companies to become sales partners with Concrete Canvas Ltd." said Simon Lester, the Business Development Manager.

Concrete Canvas Ltd. was incorporated in 2005 in the UK, and its core material technology enables the supply of unique construction solutions that are fast, simple to install and environmentally friendly.
